Engaging Health Professionals with Highly Valued Continuing Education Units

The Hass Avocado Board’s (HAB) successful continuing education program for health professionals is a creative example of how the latest fresh avocado research is packaged in turnkey solutions to make it easy for them to recommend avocados. As registered dietitians are required to fulfill professional development requirements to maintain their credential, they are continually searching for continuing education units (CEUs) and value opportunities that serve up timely updates on the latest science in a convenient and engaging format.

HAB offers CEUs on every health pillar free of charge year-round on a variety of popular formats.

Webinars

HAB works directly with Dietary Practice Groups of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics to host interactive accredited webinars featuring HAB-funded research, nutrition tips and insights. Each 1-hour live event centers around an informative breakdown of the methodology and findings of a recent avocado nutrition study led by the actual researcher. The science is complemented by helpful insights, trends and tips presented by a HAB Avocado Goodness Expert and remains available online to health professionals for 3-5 years.

Self-Study Culinary Demo

Working with Today’s Dietitian, a leading trade publication, and culinary dietitian Whitney English, RD, HAB launched a 2-part accredited cooking series this year. The program creatively integrates HAB research and nutrition messaging in step with an engaging culinary demonstration that draws in the audience. As the host prepares delicious avocado-based dishes from her kitchen, she seamlessly integrates education about HAB’s evidence-based research and how health professionals can apply the findings in their practice. The first installment “Cooking Up Satiety with Fresh Avocados” launched in July.

To create awareness and easy access to the CEU opportunities, the HAB e-newsletter for health professional delivers notifications and links straight to inboxes as resources go online. To see a sample of HAB’s CEU offering, go to LoveOneToday.com.
