Retail Volume & Avocado Price for 2015
The table below represents weekly 2015 retail scan data for National retail volume (units) and price. Retail scan data comes directly from retailers’ cash registers based on actual retail sales of Hass avocados. Starting in 2013, the table below reflects an expanded, multi-outlet retail data set. Multi-outlet reporting includes an aggregation of the following channels: grocery, mass, club, drug, dollar and military. The Average Price (of avocados) in the table reflects a per unit (per avocado) cost, even when multiple units (avocados) are sold in bags. The Product Lookup codes (PLU’s) in the table are only for Hass avocados. Other varieties of avocados (e.g. greenskins) are not included in this table.

Retail scan data comes directly from the retailers' cash registers, based on actual retail sales of Hass Avocados. The percentage of data collected from retailers varies by market. This data has been carefully imputed (mathematically increased) to reflect 100% ACV (All Commodity Value) of the Hass and Hass-like varieties of avocado sales in each DMA market. Other varieties of avocados (greenskins) are not reflected in this data.
ACV - 100% ACV reflects all Hass Avocados, sold in 100% of the stores in the geographical boundary. This includes sales from super centers, club stores, national chains, regional chains and independent grocers. It does not reflect sales from farm stands, drug stores or convenience outlets.
DMA (or Markets) - Designated Market Areas (DMA) are well defined geographical areas composed of select groups of counties adopted from Nielsen Media Research. Forty-two key Hass Avocado markets are represented for trend analysis.
Regions - Regions are based on supermarket distribution patterns and were originally defined based on retailer input

Retail adverting results from surveys of more than 200 retailers, comprising roughly 17,000 individual stores, with online weekly advertised features. Data range reflects one week of data collection and encompasses advertised pricing good from the Saturday before the week ending date through the following Thursday.
